August Cooler and Drier

Armagh Observatory reports that August was cooler and drier than average.

The mean monthly temperature was 13.0 degrees Celsius (55.4 degrees Fahrenheit), somewhat lower than the average value of 14.7 degrees.

Rainfall amounted to 56.8 mm, about 30% lower than the average monthly figure of 81.0 mm.

The number of hours of sunshine was 140.2, slightly above the norm of 133 hours.

These data refer to observations at Armagh Observatory, which has been recording the weather at Armagh since 1795.
