Network Cameras
Geography is no longer a limitation. Cable length? The length of the Internet. Minimum host requirements? None. No host required. Just plug the camera directly into the Internet. There's always somewhere on the planet where there is night, where there are clear skies....Or, you can just put the camera out in your dome and use Cat5 ethernet cable. So many improvements in such a small package: dual digitization for long exposures and fast focus; on-board camera memory for fast local sequences and no worries about transfer interruptions; time delayed integration for imaging far beyond the size of the sensor; a single 12V power input for optional battery-powered operation. Need us to test the camera? We can do it on-line. Need to control your scope THROUGH your camera? Use the camera's serial ports outputs. The list goes on and on....

The Alta E Series
The E Series represents more of a paradigm shift than a new camera platform. No more external controllers, no more plug-in cards for the PC. Freedom from cable length issues, freedom of location. More power and flexibility than any cameras in their class: more cooling, higher speeds, higher sensitivity. The Ethernet Interface: 10/100 BaseT interface via RJ45 connector ARM RISC processor embedded in camera head for network interface management. DHCP or Fixed IP address modes TCP/IP or UDP transmission modes Embedded WEB server for camera configuration and future browser control Host independent interface - can be directly controlled via any network. CAT 5 cable - 100 meters on a single leg. Dual Digitization Dual 12 and 16 bit Analog to Digital (A/D) converters 16 bit 1 Mhz Dual Slope A/D conversion 12 bit 1.4Mhz A/D converter with programmable offset and gain for fast focus or high speed imaging Converters can be switched in software, image by image Digitization rates are limited to memory storage rates Multiple Readout Modes Alta cameras support many readout modes, including full frame imaging, overscan display (for dark calibration), fast sub-framing and binning up to 10 x 4096. In addition, there are some more specialized modes: Fast / Automatic Image Sequences Multiple images (up to 65535) can be acquired and transferred to camera memory automatically. A delay may be programmed between images from 327 microseconds to 21.43 seconds. TDI (Drift Scanning) Drift scanning may be programmed from 5.12 microsecond to 336 milliseconds per row, with up to 65535 rows per image. Dual Serial Port Outputs Two serial ports are included for control of other devices such as mounts, focusers, filter wheels and spectrographs, enabling the camera to act as host to most/all peripheral equipment without the need for a local computer in remote control settings. Serial port control is also accessible / programmable through the ActiveX camera driver. Dual Programmable LED Display Two LEDs are provided for user selectable display functions. Users may program each LED for one of the following status displays:Expose: Image Active; Image Done; Flushing; Ext. Trigge; Ext. Shutter Input; Ext Start Readout; At Temperature; Power On; or other Misc diagnostic functions. All LEDs may be extinguished via application software or set to extinguish during exposures Binning: Binning up to 10 Horizontal x 4096 Vertical Upgrades Supported CCDs from other Apogee cameras, as well as from other manufacturers' cameras, can be moved into the Alta platform for a fraction of the cost of a new camera system. Please check with Apogee for the current list of supported CCDs.

Highest sensitivity: Back-iiluminated CCDs
For more than two decades, back-illuminated CCDs have represented the ultimate in high performance astronomical imaging. The highest sensitivity available means shorter exposures and better signal-to-noise.
