June 4, 1967 in Killeen, Texas.

EDUCATION:
Graduated from the Lovett School in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 1989 he received a Bachelor's degree (Aerospace Engineering) at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point.
In 1998 he received a Master's degree (Research) at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

FAMILY STATUS:
Wife - Robbie Lynn Nickels, they have three children.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
On May 6, 2004 Robert Kimbrough was enrolled in NASA Astronaut Corps (the 19th selection) as a candidate for mission specialists. He passed examinations and was interviewed at Lyndon Johnson Space Center within the second group of finalists from September 22, 2003.
At a period of June 2004 to February 2006 Robert Kimbrough passed training at Johnson Space Center. On February 10, 2006 upon completion of his training he was qualified as a mission specialist and appointed to the Flight Safety Office of the Astronaut Corps, Johnson Space Center.
In September 2007 he was appointed as a mission specialist to the crew of the Endeavour Shuttle (STS-126).

Robert Kimbrough performed his first space flight at a period of November 15 - 30, 2008 as a mission specialist in the Endeavour Shuttle (STS-126).
The main objective of the mission is to outfit the ISS using logistics module MPLP Leonardo, perform operations for the ISS maintenance on the external surface of USOS. During the flight Robert Kimbrough performed two spacewalks.
On November 20, 2008 the spacewalk duration was 6 hours 45 minutes. Its tasks were to clean and lubricate the automatic manipulator and continue to repair one of the ISS solar array panels.
On November 24, 2008 the spacewalk duration was 6 hours 7 minutes. Its task was to replace some bearings of the solar array rotating mechanism, install GPS - antenna on the Japanese module.
The mission duration was 15 days 20 hours 29 minutes.

On February 18, 2010 it was reported about his appointment to the prime crew of ISS-34/35. However, in the ISS crew flight plan till 2013 issued by NASA on June 2, 2010 there was information that in this crew Robert Kimbrough was replaced by Thomas Marshburn.
In October 2014 at a forum of journal News of Cosmonautics there was information on his appointment to the crew of ISS-49/50.
On December 1, 2014 he began to train at Yu.A. Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center. The program included a study of the Soyuz TMA-M spacecraft structure and systems and the ISS Russian Segment, cosmonaut training for actions in case of a landing in different climatic and geographical zones and others.

On January 27-29, 2015 he together with Sergei Ryzhikov and Andrei Borisenko passed a two-day training for actions in case of an emergency landing in the wooded-marshy area in winter. For 48 hours the crew practised the required operations for survival in case of the descent module emergency landing.
On July 3, 2015 at Noginsk Rescue Center EMECOM of Russia Robert Kimbrough together with Andrei Borisenko and Sergei Ryzhikov completed a series of trainings commenced on July 1 for actions upon SC landing to water surface. That day the crew provided trainings in putting off spacesuit Sokol-KV-2, putting on flight suits (FS-14), heat-protective suits (HPS-14) and diving suits Forel for an hour inside the descent module. After that the crew left the descent module taking survival kit Granat-6 and landed.
