LBV PSN J12355230+2755559 in NGC 4559

This page is devoted to information on Supernova PSNJ12355230+2755559 in NGC 4559.   Basic information on this SN, including the last reported brightness, on this Supernova can be found on the main page.   Information on the original web pages for many of these images can be found on the links web page.

image Discovered by Lick Observatory Supernova Search (USA).   This one is a Type LBV in a small companion galaxy of NGC 4559 (z=0.003).   NGC 4559C (= IC 3550) is an HII region in NGC 4559.   It has been discovered several times at this point first as PSN J12355230+2755559 by LOSS, soon after which it was confirmed as an LBV.   A second outburst was found as PSN J12355216+2755560, discovered on 2014/02/25.723 by K. Iagaki.   A third time as PSN J12355235+2755563, discovered 2014/06/22.890 by Giancarlo Cortini.   Now as AT2016blu by Ron Arbour. We have a Photometry reference image made by Odd Trondal.   This supernova is in the Constellation Coma Berenices.
