1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5235 (Structures of Quasars and Related Objects
(WC10): Cycle 4)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make long exposure observations of quasar
3C48. The objective is to study the structure of the quasar and the
underlying galaxy, and any associated galaxies, jets, and gravitational
lenses. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were
reported.

1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5571 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Earthflats,
Smaller Set)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make several ultraviolet and narrow-band
filter Earth flat calibration observations to correct for the telescope's
illumination pattern. The observations were completed as planned, and no
problems were reported.

1.3 Completed FGS 5316 (Masses of Pre-Main Sequence Stars: Cycle 4 Medium)

The Fine Guidance Sensors were used in the TRANS Mode to make
astrometric observations of the pre-main sequence binary star DF-TAU in the
Taurus star forming region. The FGS data will provide the apparent orbits.
The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.4 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5370 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4
High, High Galactic Latitude)

The WF/PC-2 was used in parallel with the prime science observations
to make high galactic latitude observations as part of a medium-deep sky
survey. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were
reported.

1.5 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5397 (Determination of the Extragalactic
Distance Scale: Cycle 4 High)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make images of galaxies NGC-3621 and
NGC-3031-V3 to be used in measuring the periods of Cepheid variable stars
within the galaxies. The observations were completed as planned, and no
anomalies were noted.

1.6 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshots of 3CR
Radio Galaxies)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxies
3C313.0, 3C268.1 and 3C343.1 as part of a continuum survey and to study the
galaxies' morphology. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no
anomalies were noted.

1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5560 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor.
1)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make several internal bias, K-Spot, and flat
calibration observations to monitor the CCD camera electronics, the optical
alignment, and to check for contamination. The observations were completed as
planned, and no anomalies were noted.

1.8 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5234 (Faint Clusters of Galaxies (WC09):
Cycle 4)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of faint galaxy cluster
Gal-CLUS-13 to monitor the observations and assess the data quality. The
observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.9 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5655 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Calibration:
Internal Monitor. 2: Flats Part 2)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make both dark and visual flats. The
observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported.

1.10 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 5446 (The Nuclei of Nearby S0 and
Spiral Galaxies: A PC Snapshot Imaging)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the core region of
galaxies NGC-4389, NGC-1744 and NGC-4623 to provide statistics on the nuclear
cusps, stellar condensations, and inner stellar disks and dust lanes. The
observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.11 Completed WF/PC-2 5505 (Deep Probes of Gravitational Lens Systems)

The WF/PC-2 was used to attempt to make deep images of the elliptical
galaxy 0023+171 which is a member of the Coma Cluster. The intent was to
improve our understanding of the stellar populations in ellipticals and to
determine the distance to the Coma Cluster. The baseline guide star
acquisition failed, probably because the Fixed Head Star Tracker updates that
preceded it failed. The Take Data Flag (TDF) remained down. The shutters
toggled at the start of the observations, but closed immediately. HSTAR 5100
was written.
(See Ops Note 2.1)

1.12 Completed FOS/BL 5179 (Stellar Winds in M-31, M-33: Cycle 4)

The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make
spectrographic observations of the OB class star M33-N604-S which in located
in the galaxy M-31. The objective is to study stellar wind phenomena, stellar
temperatures, and ultraviolet extinction. The observations were executed as
planned, and no anomalies were noted.

1.13 Completed WF/PC-2 5475 (A Snapshot Survey for Blue Stragglers in
Magellanic Cluster Cores)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make short exposure snapshot images of the
blue straggler stars located in populous cluster NGC-176. The intent is to
find out if blue straggler stars exist within this cluster. The observations
were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.14 Completed Two Sets of FOC/96 5670 (FOC Internal Relative
Calibrations)

The Faint Object Camera was used to make internal flat calibration
images. The relative pixel to pixel response of the FOC field of view was
measured using the onboard LEDs. The observations were executed as scheduled,
and no anomalies were noted.

1.15 Completed WF/PC-2 5563 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Photometric Calibration
Monitor 1: UV /OPT STD.)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make photometric calibration images o
ultraviolet standard star GRW+70D582 and monitor the photometric stability
and quantum efficiency of the WF/PC-2. The observations were executed as
scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.16 Completed WF/PC-2 5629 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Photometric Calibration
Monitor 1C: 4-Chip STD in F170W)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make photometric calibration observations of
the ultraviolet standard star GRW+70D582. The observations were executed as
scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.17 Completed FOS/96 5420 (Color-Magnitude Diagrams of globular clusters
in M-31: Cycle 4 Medium)

The Faint Object Spectrograph (F/96) was used to make spectrographic
observations of the globular cluster G280 which is located in galaxy M-31
(aka, the Andromeda Galaxy). This is to help build a color-magnitude diagram
of globular clusters within this galaxy. The observations were executed as
scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.18 Completed FGS 5337 (Linking the HIPPARCOS to the Extragalactic
Reference Frame: NEWHIP-C)

The FGSs were used to make astrometric observations of NEWEGOC-45,
220-REF, 221-REF, 222-REF, NEWHIP-45 to help tie the HIPPARCOS and
extra-galactic reference frames together.

1.19 Completed WF/PC-2 5124 (Imaging and Spectrometry of Seyfert Nuclei:
Cycle 4)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of clouds in nuclear region
of Seyfert galaxy NGC-4261. It is hoped to find structures such as disks,
bubbles, and jets. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no
anomalies were noted.

1.20 Completed GHRS/1 5725 (Interstellar Lead - Carryover)

The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make
observations of star HD141637 (aka, 1 SCO) to look for the interstellar
absorption of lead (Pb II). The observations were executed as scheduled, and
no anomalies were noted.
