The 2-gyro PRD was utilized to construct these products.

The 2-gyro specific FHST priority, TG_FHS_PRI, in the MS Basefile was set to
2,1,3 for this SMS.

The following highlights the unique activities in the F2G On-Orbit Test
(only the first occurrence is mentioned):

051:23:10 - 052:01:38 - Reconfigure the vehicle via R/T-command into 2-gyro
mode.

052:02:00 - First OBAD

052:02:31 - Second OBAD

052:02:40 - First GSACQ/GOB
052:05:35 - 052:04:20 - F2G to T2G to F2G transitions

052:06:40 - GSACQ for FL-Backup test. Secondary star in FGS3
(0024700203) is a double-star and should succeed
in coarse-track but fail to achieve fine lock.
POS-mode astrometry follows with a 50" search for
the astrometry star (this is the first occurrence
of astrometry in 2-gyro mode).

052:08:49 - 052:16:00 - 5-orbit observation. F2G to T2G to M2G to T2G to F2G
transitions as well as F2G to M2G to T2G to F2G.

053:09:53 - 053:10:40 - First TRANS-mode astrometry in 2-gyro mode.

053:12:20 - 053:20:55 - CVZ observation

054:09:17 - 054:09:35 - First Earth Calib observation under T2G control

054:14:17 - 054:14:22 - First Earth Calib observation under M2G control

054:20:15 - 054:20:40 - F2G worst-case slew test. 60" Type 3 slews.

054:21:36 - 054:22:15 - Grazing V1 occultation case (SPSS says occulted, PASS
says not occulted).

054:22:24 - 055:00:10 - Reconfigure the vehicle via R/T-command into 3-gyro
mode.

Commanding Notes for Flight SMS 050523A3
****************************************

This SMS contains a transition from 3-gyro to 2-gyro commanding on day
052 beginning at approximately 0:10 UT, and proceeds with an on-orbit
test of 2-gyro mode. To support these activities, IM-380.0 was
delivered to the operational system on 09 February 2005. This included
OPRs 51065, 51859, 52260, 52445, and 52729, which together provided all
the Instruction updates needed.

OPRs 51065, 51859, 52260,and 52445 are intended for normal operations
and will support both 3-gyro and 2-gyro modes. OPR 52729 provides the
special instructions needed for the transitions from 3-gyro mode to
2-gyro mode and back. EHS3TO2GYRO is used on this SMS.

Also in preparation for this test, SRT 128.0 was delivered to
operations on 09 February 2005. This contains OPR 51659 which adds
limited checking of 2-gyro mode commanding and detection of switches
between 2- and 3-gyro modes. The switch to 2-gyro mode was properly
detected when checking the first 2-gyro specific statement
at day 052 01:38 UT.

Finally, as part of the 2-gyro test there was an edit of the SMS
on day 052 at approximately 06:40:40 UT. K-factors GS21K1X and GS21K1Y
were deliberately set to a value of 0.00064 to ensure a fine-lock
failure.
