1. What is MMT?
===============================================================================
MMT is an action/strategy game for Windows. The game is set in the future
where interplanetary disputes are settled through combat of the
MegaMechaTank(MMT). One MMT from each side enters the combat grounds and only
one MMT leaves.

You are in charge JAR colony, the last free planet in
your region of the galaxy. A previously insignificant planet has quickly
gobbled over thirty planets via the MMT competitions.

Your job in the game is to do the following:

1) Design your MMT. This includes buying all the essential components for the
MMT. e.g. power plants, ecm, lasers, hover unit, missiles, armor, and
special weapons.

2) Select research for special weapons programs.

3) Choose which planets you're competing for. (Whatever you do don't bet away
the home world!)

4) Take your MMT onto the happy hunting grounds and win some planets!

2. How can I get MMT?

Look for MMT.ZIP on alt.binaries.games or
send e-mail to pharm@netcom.com asking for a copy of MMT.ZIP.

3. Frequently asked questions
===============================================================================

3.A Why won't some of my weapons arm?

The MMT has two type of hardpoints for holding weapons, the turret and
hull. Turret weapons always follow target, but a hull weapon has to be
facing it's target. Change direction of your MMT so it's facing the
enemy and click on the relock icon. You're weapons should now lock on
to their target.

3.B How much ECM should I have?

It really depends on your strategy. ECM helps you out in so many areas.
It increases you chances of hitting the target, decreases your chances
of being hit, and greatly improves your scans for enemy MMT's and POD's.
One classic MMT strategy is to load up on ECM and skimp on weapon
systems. Regardless of strategy though, you should have
at least one or two ECM just to improve your scanning capability.

3.C Why do my lasers show a 0% of hitting their target?

With lasers, the chance of hitting a target is dependent upon
what's in front of it. If a mountain range is in between you an the
enemy, the laser will just hit the mountain and never hit the enemy.
If your going to spend a lot of time battling around mountain ranges,
maybe you should try missiles.

3.D Why aren't there any weapons in the buy special weapons dialog?

Before you can buy special weapons, you need to research them first.
Unfortunately a technology embargo is currently in effect for JAR
colony. The only way you can a get the technologies in order to research
the weapon is to win them through the competition.

3.E Why do the enemy MMT's always cross mountains, while my MMT suddenly
stops?

JAR colony doesn't have the latest in state of the art technology.
Even anti-grav won't get you over mountains. This fact does give the
enemy a bit of an edge. In high speed chases, you'll need to maneuver
very quickly or your on-board computer will initiate the ABS system and
you'll come to a screeching halt.

3.F Why can't I buy armor for my MMT?
Each side of armor costs 1 buying point. Armor is bought in layers: front
left side, right side, and back. So one layer of armor costs four points.
The maximum amount of armor an MMT can have is equal to it's hull size
e.g. The maximum amount of armor a MARK I MMT can have is one layer.

3.G Why is my opponent running away from me?

Either your opponent has decided he's taken too much damage and is going
for repairs, or your opponent has decided to blow up your POD before
engaging you in combat.

4. Strategy Guide

4.A Building Strategy

As rule of thumb have at least as many power plants as your MMT's hull
number. Then add a few more power plants for weapons. e.g. With a MARK II
hull buy 2 plants just to move the MMT, and 2 more plants for your weapons.
With weapons, buy something you can afford and that will fit in your MMT.

Depending on your combat style and MMT designs, you can choose lasers only,
missiles only, or a combination of lasers in lasers and missiles. If your
MMT isn't going to be equipped with any ECM or your planning to do all
your fighting behind a mountain range, consider missiles. If your
expecting prolonged combat in open land, lasers will be the perfect
choice.

Another rule of thumb is that the more expensive a weapon is, the better
the armor penetrating abilities of that weapon.

If you have extra buying points, then buy some armor. Armor will decrease
you chances of those lasers and missiles penetrating your hull. The
downside is that they'll make your MMT move slower in combat.

Although it's the least reliable, anti-grav is mobility is considered the
mobility of choice for the MMT. It's main advantage are speed and ability
to go over water. Most antigrav units are destroyed after a few hits
though.

4.B Should I go for the MMT first or go for his POD instead?

It depends if you think you can take on the MMT without any
complications, then go for the MMT. If you're not sure then go to his
POD and blow it up. Depending on the range of you're MMT's scanner,
you may not even be able to find the enemy POD or MMT. In that case
you might consider going after what you can see rather then waste time
searching the battlefield. It's a large battlefield and sometimes POD's
can hard to find.
