LECTURE: A final reminder about the next IAA meeting, on Wednesday 1 December, at 7.30 p.m., in Stranmillis College, Belfast, when Dr Don Pollaco (QUB) will talk on his amazing 'SuperWASP' project. (Nothing to do with 'killer bees' - WASP is for 'Wide Angle Search for Planets'.) It's in Lecture Room 5, main building, and admission is free, including light refreshments. 2. TV: Wednesday, 1 December: 9.00pm on BBC4 TV: Light Fantastic: Let there be light - first of four programmes about light. Repeated Thursday, 7.00pm See: here. 3. TV: More details on the TV Prog on Sunday 5 Dec: "What we Still Don't Know" is listed for 8.0pm. Sunday on C4, starting this Sunday, 5 Dec. It appears to be series of 3. Seems to be a mix of sci-fi and philosophy! (thanks to Peter Paice for that info) 4. LECTURE:. Monday, 6 Dec., 8.00pm, St Patrick's College, Drumcondra: Prof. Susan McKenna-Lawlor (NUIM) on 'Voyages to the Edge of Forever' 5. TV: Monday, 6 Dec., BBC1 TV, 12.10-12.50am The Sky at Night - The world's largest telescope, the VLT in Chile and what it does. ( With our own IAA member Dr Alan Fitzsimmons, QUB, starring!). Repeated on BBC4 TV, 8.30-9.30pm. 6. LECTURE: Tuesday, 7 Dec., 8.00pm, Henry Grattan Building, DCU, Dr Allan Chapman on 'Lord Rosse: The Beginning of Deep Space Astronomy in 19th Century Ireland'. This lecture is sponsored by the British Council. (Any member from ANY astro society in Ireland will be admitted at the 3euro rate (normally 5euro).
