Subject: Eclipse Invitation

Hi all,

Dr Les Gornall & has wife Mahin have kindly extended this invitation to 
anyone who's interested in the total lunar eclipse on Wed night, 27/28 Oct - the 
last one visible anywhere in the world until March 2007! You can go just for the 
talks, slides, videos, competitions, craic & grub, or stay all night for the 
eclipse - it's up to you!

There will be a small admission charge of ё5, concessionary ё2, which will go 
to a chosen charity.

(BTW, if you read directions to the venue on another Club's email, I think 
they are wrong (not the Club's fault), in that if you are coming from the M2 
direction, you should turn Left at the Petrol station, not Right. The directions 
below are believed to be correct!)

"We will do a soup and roll supper on 27th starting at 8.30.

If the night is clear we should have some time for general observation.  If 
not then we can watch some astronomical movies on the tv and arrange demos and 
talks between ourselves.
   Also, my son has a great story to tell of renovating a primary school in 
the slums of Nairobi and also climbing mount Kenya.  Good slide show and 
pictures.
   I watched the moon set last night and we have a good clear horizon that 
should see us through to third or fourth contact. So bring your binocs and 
scopes

We have a 1mb broadband connection for the live broadcast.

You can call for a "talk-in" on the night if you get lost.

Route from M2: Continue off the end of the motorway and head for Cookstown 
direction. Go over the new Bluesome Bridge at Toome. Carry on to the Magherafelt 
- Castledawson Roundabout. Turn Left towards the Kentucky Fried Chicken and 
continue to Magherafelt. Head for Cookstown. 1 mile from the town square on the 
Cookstown - Moneymore road is a BP Petrol station.
Turn Left at the Petrol Station into KILLYFADDY ROAD
Solar house is in a straight line just over 2 miles away.
Go down Killyfaddy road about 1.75 miles - it gets very narrow and goes into 
the countryside.
At the country crossroads - a staggered junction GO STRAIGHT ACROSS INTO 
BALLYMOGHAN LANE
300 yards ahead is a red brick house (Harry Dales home). Solar House is the 
next entrance on the right after Harry's house.

Coming from Cookstown:
Go through Moneymore to Magherafelt
A few hundred yards from the 30mph speed restriction sign is the Highfield 
Petrol station (BP).
Turn Right at the petrol station into KILLYFADDY ROAD.
continue as above.
