From: TerryMoselaol.com Date: Wed, 23 Feb 2005 19:17:41 EST Subject: Eclipse Trip, call for deposits Hi all, I'm copying this to all on my list, just to be on the safe side, as this stage is critical for anyone who wants to go! (We now have well over 100!) Apologies if you have already got it direct from David. N.B. Since David wrote this, we may have got an even better deal! But that's still to be confirmed! In any case, we still need your deposits to be sent to David right now, as below! "To all At last! We have lift-off... We have finally settled on the details of the Turkey eclipse trip. After a long and painstaking research, Terry has come up with what we consider to be the best possible deal. He emailed 34 companies listed on the Turkish Tourist website, narrowed the replies down to about a dozen, emailed them for more info, then shortlisted about 8. Further discussions and negotiations narrowed it down to about 6, then 3. The final choice is the best we could possibly get, factoring in the dates, flight times, airport, direct flights, hotel size, quality & location, board basis etc. I think you will agree that we are getting value for money, but I expected no less from Terry. A job very well done indeed. Here's the final package. Operator: Greenisland Holidays, www.greenislandholidays.com, parent company = Lorenz Voyager Travel Company. ABTA, ATOL & IATA bonded. Prices: 409 pounds pps, 489 pounds single, child under 6 free, child 7-12 years = 50% off if sharing with two adults. Basis: half board. Including flights, transfers, courier etc. Taxes: 20 pounds pp, covering airport, fuel & security taxes. (This would be roughly the same for all operators) Hotel: The Sheraton Voyager 5*, deluxe; near the city centre, & overlooking the beach. 11-storey, curved & tapering - very attractive. Direct access to the sea via footbridge to the hotel's own beach facilities 395 rooms, all with air-conditioning, balcony, en-suite with bath & shower, hairdryer, minibar, telephone, satellite TV, radio & safe. Modern health & spa facilities, restaurants, heated indoor & outdoor pools, poolside snack bar, lobby bar, children's playground, massage, Turkish baths, sauna & jacuzzi, tennis courts, squash courts, lifts. Dates; Sunday 26 March, for 1 week. Flights: Ex Stansted, departing 13.30, arriving Antalya @ 19.45. Return departing Antalya @ 06.45, arriving Stansted @ 09.00. Deposit 75 pounds per person. Final sum to be paid to IFAS 10 weeks before departure. Information required along with the deposits: 1. Full names as on passports - VERY IMPORTANT! (e.g. I'll be registered as 'Terence' not Terry) 2. Addresses 3. Tel number(s) 4. Email, if any 5. Room type (Double, twin, single, family, or single sharing with A.N.Other) 6. If not taking Greenisland's insurance, give details of your own holiday travel insurance: name of insurance company & policy number. 7. Any special requirements (disability etc) NOT INCLUDED: Insurance. This is compulsory, and if not taking Greenisland's own insurance (details of this to be forwarded asap), you must provide proof of alternative adequate insurance cover as at 6 above. N.B. It is each person's own resposibility to get to Stansted in time for check-in, but the departure times should allow most people to get to Stansted on the Sunday morning in time for check-in, without having to travel the previous evening & stay overnight. BUT THAT IS THEIR DECISION! The return flight time means that everyone can get a return flight to Ireland that day, without having to stay over. Now then. The above is all Terry's doing. This is where I take over... The time has come to cough up. I was reluctant to get involved in actually handling the money, but on reflection I realized that the only way I could be really certain who had or hadn't paid witout the possibility of mixups, was to have the deposits sent to me, and once I had recorded the names, forward them to our treasurer or lodge them to the IFAS account myself. This account will have two signatories - myself as Chair of IFAS, and Paddy Brennan, Treasurer. So I want you all to send a cheque for 150 euro or 100 pounds, made out to 'IFAS Eclipse Account', to me, David Bell Bansha Askeaton Co Limerick and make sure that it is clear to me exactly who you are! This should be done immediately! If you don't pay the deposit in time your name may have to be taken off the list. Obviously we can hold the tour operator at bay for a short time for stragglers but neither they nor we want to jeopardize the bookings of prompt payers. For most of you I have an email address, and this is how I intend to acknowledge receipt of the monies. There are a couple of people who have no email, but I have already established a line of communication with them through third parties who do. Once the deposit has been paid and passed over to the travel agents, we can all relax until next January, at which time I, like the Vikings looking for their Danegeld, will be back... I have also set up a restricted email group, intended solely for the use of those who will be going, and I will be inviiting you all to join later this week. I urge you to do so as it will be a good way of keeping in touch, and a platform for news, suggestions and, God forfend, complaints. David Bell, Terry Moseley: Organizers" Clear skies, Terry Moseley
