From: TerryMoselaol.com Date: Thu, 24 Mar 2005 20:25:38 EST Subject: Turkish Delight a la Hollandaise Hi all, All of you who have booked, or expressed an interest, in the IFAS Eclipse trip to Turkey in March 2006, should already have got David Bell's email setting out the new proposal. I'll repeat the bones of it below, just to provide 'belt & braces', and in case any others want to try to get in on the trip at the last moment! But here's some background information for new additions to the list, and others: We had originally agreed in principle a deal with a GB based operator, which would have involved flying from London Stansted, so that we would all have had to make our own way to Stansted to board the flight there. The hotel was the 5* Sheraton, which looked wonderful. All told, it looked a great offer, as we set it out for you originally. I was just about to confirm it with them, when Jouke de Ruiter told us of the possibility of a better offer from a major Dutch operator, flying from Ireland via Amsterdam to Antalya. We felt bound to investigate this on your behalf, and to cut a very long story short, David, Jouke & I (principally Jouke, I must say!) negotiated the even better deal which is set out below. The gist of it is that we have got an even better hotel, in an ideal location, at an even lower price, with Half Board provision, and it should cost no more to fly from Dublin or Belfast to Amsterdam than it would to fly to Stansted. We hope to make those flights part of the actual package (at extra cost which would then become part of the inclusive cost), but if not it will just be a case of booking your own flights to Amsterdam instead of to Stansted. There are suitable flights, at very reasonable prices, early on the Saturday morning, in plenty of time to connect with the flight from Amsterdam to Antalya. All in all, it seems a fantastic deal, & I hope you're all as pleased as we are! We have to sort out some final details such as costs of single supplement, & family rooms, which we will pass on to you asap. David is too modest to decribe the major work he has done in getting all the deposit payments into our Swiss bank account - Only joking folks! We'll wait until you have paid the final balance..... ;-) But seriously, he has done a massive job very well, and in case you are wondering, there are two separate copies of all your payment details & requirements on two other IFAS computers, in case he happens to get hit by an asteroid or something. The bank A/C is in Limerick, BTW! Here are the basic details of the package as of now: Date of departure: Saturday 25th March 2006 Return date: Saturday 1st April 2006 Number of persons: approx. 120 Cost Euro 459.00 per person sharing Accommodation: Hotel Hillside Su***** We will be flying to Amsterdam, but note that the cost of the flight from Dublin and Belfast to there is not included here, and Aer Lingus refuses to give us a price so far ahead. But the cost at this time is about 100 euro, (бё50 from Belfast), return, and it shouldn't increase by much, if at all, for next March. We will have to arrange our own insurance, so that any disputes are governed by our own local laws. David is looking into putting together a package specifically for the trip for those who don't already have their own, and will let you know the outcome in due course. We don't at this moment know if he can do it for North and South, or whether two separate deals would be necessary. Neither do we know yet what the single supplement is, but he has asked Jouke to find out. The hotel is the Hillside Su Hotel which is reputed to be the best new luxury hotel in Antalya! It is located in Konyaalti, Antalya and has a magnificent beach with "Blue Flag" status.
