MAN, CHURCH AND SCIENCE COME TOGETHER IN A UNIQUE THEATRICAL EXPERIENCE!! The Greenwood Players and the Armagh Observatory proudly present "The Life of Galileo" by Bertolt Brecht in a new version by David Hare in the unique environs of the historic Parish Church of St George's in Belfast. "The Life of Galileo" and its central drama of the conflict between science, religion and authority, is a story that resonates today. The Greenwood Players performed the Irish premiere of this version of Brecht's famous play to sell-out audiences in the historic Armagh Observatory, the oldest continuously working observatory in the UK and Ireland. Founded in 1789, this working research facility continues the work of scientists like Galileo. Staff from the Observatory will be in attendance. This performance takes place in the equally atmospheric Parish Church of St George, Belfast which is starting to celebrate its bicentenary this year........ It is a story about having the courage to ask big questions." Ian McDonald, author and executive producer with The Greenwood Players.
