Read the pack carefully before you start.
There are a number of activities which you may wish to carry out before
visiting The Orrery. You may need to reserve ICT facilities before you
start so that the pupils can research the properties of the planets and
other objects in the Solar system.
The pack is split into two parts. The first part is before visiting, the
second part is for use with The Orrery

Part 1
Each activity has its own resources but you may need to have at hand the
following.
String (up to 9m in length)
Clothes pegs
Newspapers/Tissue paper
A wide variety of other types of paper used in making models
Sellotape
Plasticine/Play Dough or similar

Part 2
You will need clipboards and copies of the worksheets.
Rulers and tape measures can be borrowed from The King's School.
Because the Orrery is an outdoors activity area you will need to bring a
coat.
The worksheets can be done either as differentiated tasks, as some are more
challenging than others. Alternatively you could use these as a round robin
and allow your pupils to complete all the tasks or feedback to others on
their individual tasks.
