During the run on YY Gem in March 1988, two modes of operation of the Tinsley
photometer on the 60-cm University of Hawaii telescope on Mauna Kea were used:
firstly UBVRI broad-band photometry with a relatively course time resolution of
several minutes which was suitable for observation of the eclipses and spot
modulation, and secondly, continuous U-band monitoring with a time resolution of
approximately 6 seconds which was suitable for observations of flares. In this
directory we give the files containing the continuous U-band data, namely
m01-yy.dat, m03-yy.dat, m04-yy.dat, m05-yy.dat and m06-yy.dat. The 01, 03 etc in
the filename refers to the local (Hawaii) date of the start of the night, in
fact its the night of 1/2, 3/4 March etc, which corresponds to the UT date 2, 4
etc. The files contain: several lines of header, including the UT date, and the
number of observations included. Consecutive lines contain: decimal UT, followed
by the sky corrected count rate.

No attempt was made to convert all of this data to magnitudes but we did do so
for the limited dataset for 4 March (UT) when a flare was observed
simultaneously with Ginga. For this dataset, first correction was made for
extinction. This was followed by conversion to magnitudes and adjustment of the
U-band zero point by 0.15 magnitudes from reference to calibrated U-band
magnitudes for YY Gem on either side of the continuous run. The corrected U-band
monitoring is contained in the file yy-fl-cU.dat in the form heliocentric Julian
date (HJD-2447000.0) and U-band magnitude.
