Armagh Observatory reports that the weather in March was slightly milder, sunnier and wetter than average. ![]()
Middling March
The mean monthly temperature was 6.9 degrees Celsius, that is, just over half a degree higher than average. The maximum temperature recorded was 14.2 degrees on 31st. There were, however, 4 nights with air frost and 17 nights with ground frost.
The number of hours of sunshine was 112.8, that is, about 10% higher than the average for March.
Precipitation amounted to 66.8 mm (2.63 inches), that is, just over 25% higher than the monthly average.
These data refer to observations at Armagh Observatory, which has been recording the weather at Armagh since 1795.
