Armagh Observatory

January Slightly Drier and Milder Than Normal

Armagh Observatory reports that January was slightly drier and milder than average. The total precipitation for the month was 67.6 mm (2.66 inches), that is, about 10% less than the most recent 30-year (1981тАУ2010) January monthly average at Armagh.

The number of hours of sunshine was 45.3, which is just slightly less than the most recent 1981тАУ2010 January monthly average.

The mean monthly temperature was 6.3 degrees Celsius (43.3 degrees Fahrenheit), which is about 1.6 degrees C more than the most recent 30-year (1981-2010) January mean monthly average. The maximum temperature was 12.6 degrees C on the 2nd, while the lowest air temperature was тАУ1.9 degrees C on 14th. There were twelve nights with grass frost and four with air frost.

These data refer to observations at Armagh Observatory, which has been recording the weather at Armagh since 1795.
