Mild, Dry September

Armagh Observatory reports that September was milder, drier and slightly duller than average.

The mean monthly temperature was 13.8 degrees Celsius (56.8 degrees Celsius), which is slightly more than half a degree Celsius warmer than the most recent 30-year average. The warmest day occurred on the 2nd, with a maximum temperature of 23.8 degrees Celsius. The coldest air temperature was 3.8 degrees Celsius, which occurred on the morning of the 6th. There were two nights with grass frost, the coldest (-3.1 degrees Celsius) also occurring on the morning of the 6th.

Rainfall amounted to 49.7 mm (1.96 inches), that is, rather less than three-quarters of the most recent 30-year (1981тАУ2010) monthly average for September. This was the driest September since 2009. The wettest day was the 6th when 10.6 mm fell.

The number of hours of sunshine was 95.0, that is, approximately 83% of the most recent 30-year average.
