Proposals are invited to form part of a second round proposal by IYA2009-Ireland to the Discover Science and Engineering Grants Programme.
Suggestions are invited for small proposals тАУ up to тВм5,000 (and only exceptionally to тВм10,000) тАУ to form part of a second round submission for IYA2009 to DSE.
Proposals must be received by 27th March at the very latest тАУ the deadline for submission to DSE is close of business April 3rd. We will attempt to vet them in the same way that we did previously.
Proposals will be judged on how well they fit into the overall IYA2009 project, and how well they conform to the Discover Science & Engineering guidelines, which are, that grant applications must be aimed to support: (a) mathematics, (b) 2nd level science, (c) careers in science, or (d) events supporting Science Week Festivals.
Everyone is reminded that, whilst they are, of course, perfectly free to apply on their own behalf for funding to DSE, they may not apply independently for IYA2009 events without the involvement of the IYA2009-Ireland Executive. We would, of course, encourage independent proposals, but insist that we are involved, or at the very least have advance knowledge of the content of any proposal. The IYA2009 international organisation has stated that it will only deal with the SPOC.
