MSU CNIR visited the Republic of Korea in the delegation of “Sport Science-Youth”

From 5 to 11 June, the Russian delegation “Sport Science-Youth” paid a visit to the Republic of South Korea. Katerina Tikhonova, director of the Center of national intellectual reserve MSU (here in after – CNIR MSU) and Natalia Popova, deputy director of the Moscow State University CNIR among the Russian delegates actively participated in the discussion of the program of cooperation in the scientific, cultural and sports fields.

The visit included a visit to universities, technology parks and research institutions in Busan and Seoul. ?The trip was very productive since the early days of the visit. For example, at the University of Busan there were discussed some questions of cooperation of universities with large and medium-sized businesses, including particularly relevant to the theme of the two countries support start-ups and financing of innovation? shared her impressions Natalia Popova. During the visit to the Korean Institute of Scientific and Technological Information (KISTI) there were considered options for cooperation with Moscow State University. According to Natalia Popova, “there were identified areas of mutual scientific interest, in particular, joint activities with the use of supercomputers and projects in the field of Big Data.

The final stage of the trip was a visit to the National University of Seoul. The joint meeting was held a round table discussion on the research, design and innovation universities. According to the results of the event the parties agreed on mutually beneficial cooperation in the exchange of experience in supporting promising research. Vice-President of the University of Sung Jin Kang has supported the strengthening of relations between the Russian and Korean universities not only in science, but in cultural and sports fields. The discussion was also attended by representatives of the Russian center in Korea, which paid special attention to the cultural and linguistic exchange between countries.

With great enthusiasm cultural and sporting part of the trip was provided. Russian delegates received were wished successful cooperation between Russia and South Korea in the important and complementary fields of science, culture and sport by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea Yu Jin Ryong.

During his speech, the Russian athletes invited everyone to practice the basics of acrobatic rock and roll, that truly responded to the South Korean public. Interest in rock ‘n’ roll is not limited to practice on the floor of the gym. Koreans expressed their wish to take part in a summer seminar in Russia for training foreign coaches and athletes the basics of acrobatic rock-and-roll. Also Korean colleagues shared there plans for the development of such a spectacular and highly technical sport of acrobatic rock-and-roll in South Korea. As a part of this initiative, a special organization was headed by the Vice-President Sambo Federation of Korea Co Chun Hung. The Russian delegation visited the official reception on the occasion of its opening. The event was opened by the Russian Ambassador to Korea Konstantin Vnukov. According to him, “a growing interest in acrobatic rock and roll in Korea is due primarily to the conformity of the Korean sport mentality, which is characterized by features such as team spirit, responsibility, diligence, perfectionism.”

Summing up the trip, Mrs. Tikhonova, director of MSU CNIR noted that ?such multilateral cooperation is one of the most promising for both sides. It allows not only to establish new links between the Russian and Korean universities in the fields of science, culture and sport, but also helps to build trust and friendship between our peoples?.
