Dear Dan,
I have such clockdrive and I use it normally with a ccd camera or with a Meade DSI and a camera lens as you can see in the post in my blog http://alphecca.blogspot.com/2010/07/ecco-lattrezzatura-utilizzata-per-la.html
The clockdrive activates using a female hexagonal key in the hole present in front of it.
With a pair of turns it goes for one day and it continues without the possibility to stop it.
