Red Shift Uniformity
Forum List | Follow Ups | Post Message | Back to Thread Topics | In Response To Posted by Joe Antognini on January 9, 2005 08:17:09 UTC |
But red shifts are not uniform- we observe more distant galaxies to have a greater red shift. If the red shift were due to some gravitational field, we should observe it to consist of uniform changes on all objects viewed- not only on the more distant galaxies. Since we do not see this effect, however, and in fact see blue shifts for many stars, we must conclude that the cause of the red shift is not a property of the observer.
