I believe you are confusing reactions, made a math error and a sign inversion.

There are Exothermic reactions and Endothermic reactions. If heat is produced, mass is lost. If heat is reduced, mass is gained. In the example you gave, heat was produced to raise the temp 1 degree kelvin and resulted in a loss of mass not gain. -Rick
