The Night Sky Network Services benefit hundreds of astronomy clubs across the country.
Sharing
the Universe is a joint project between the ASP and the Institute
for Learning Innovation funded by the National Science Foundation's
Informal Science Education division. The project is based on the
fact that many amateur astronomers (often as members of astronomy
clubs) regularly volunteer their time to share their knowledge,
passion, and enjoyment of the sky. But even the most enthusiastic
and energetic amateur can encounter difficulty when trying to establish
or invigorate EPO initiatives in his or her astronomy club.
The
Sharing the Universe project's objective is to research the culture
of astronomy clubs and identify solutions to address the challenges
to effective and sustained public outreach.
