This images in this directory are very wide field color images of the northern
night sky at Moore Observatory. They were recorded in February 2012 and in
October 2011 to capture Ursa Major and the celestial pole as it would be seen on
a dark night.

The image nightsky_20120229.jpg shows Ursa Major (locate the pointers at the end
of the bowl of the "dipper") and Ursa Minor with Polaris.

The images were taken with a Nikon D3s digital single-lens reflex camera in 10
second exposures at high gain, using a 18 mm focal length "fisheye" lens.

We have scheduled a high resolution image of Polaris with the CDK20N and when it
is available we will add it to this directory. Polaris is a double star,
and is slightly variable.
