M1 Aluminization Process: October 12, 2000

Mark, Norm, Lynn, and eventually French worked with the Kitt Peak support staff to aluminize the M1.

After cleaning the supports, the mirror is transferred to its standards and the old coating washed off.

After washing, the mirror is trasnferred into the vacuum chamber.

The M1 is removed from the vacuum chamber with its new coating.

Not to panic, the spots are from the camera lens!!
