The ATNF Vlbiobs exploder
The ATNF Vlbiobs exploder
Information of interest to ATNF astronomers (both staff and users)
is distributed on a "majordomo" list-server (aka "exploder"),
which is linked to a hypermail server, so that you can access
all mail sent to this exploder via the WWW.
All ATNF staff and users, or potential users, are welcome to join
this exploder, and you can join ("subscribe") or unsubscribe
yourself by following the instructions below. Alternatively, you
can browse all previous mail on the WWW without subscribing. This
latter form ("hypermail") has the advantage of listing
the various mails by thread (i.e. the "subject" of the
original mail) as well as by chronological order. You can send
mail to everybody on this list by sending mail to
vlbiobs@atnf.csiro.au.
FURTHER INFORMATION
- If you are sending email from the ATNF or from a recognised
astronomical institution, you may subscribe to this by sending
an email to vlbiobs-request@atnf.csiro.au
with the single word "subscribe" in the body of the
message (the subject can be left blank). Your application to subscribe
will then be approved on the next working day.
- If you are sending email from any account which we may not
recognise as identifying you as a bona fide user (e.g. from a
University or Compuserve account), then we will not approve your
request to subscribe to astro, unless you first send an email
to Chris Phillips
saying who you are you and why you want to subscribe. We apologise
for this, but it is necessary to protect our users from antisocial
people who use these exploders for sending junk mail. You may
then subscribe to the exploder by sending an email to vlbiobs-request@atnf.csiro.au
with the single word "subscribe" in the body of the
message (the subject can be left blank). If your email identified
you as a bona-fide user or someone with a legitimate interest,
then your application to subscribe will be approved on the next
working day.
- Those with ATNF computer accounts may view the vlbiobs mail
without joining the list-server group
- Further information on using the major-domo exploder, can be found here.
