A fun science workshop for kids will be held at CSIRO Australia Telescope visitors centre at Narrabri on Tuesday 14 March 2006. The workshop for children aged seven to fourteen is on pneumatics, machines that work with air. Participants will be building machines using cardboard, air, tubes and plastic syringes.
A dancing lady, a front end loader, a dinosaur with opening mouth or a rocket that moves are just some of the possible machines that children will make. Active imaginations will no doubt dream up and build other machines in the educational workshops.
The workshop will run at the telescope visitors centre on Tuesday 14 March from 6:00pm to about 7:30pm.
Staff from the CSIRO Science Education Centre in Sydney will be running the workshop.
Bookings are essential and can be made by telephoning the visitors services manager on 02 6790 4070. The workshop costs $7 per child, or if they are a member of the Double Helix club, only $5. Children under ten must be accompanied by an adult.
