Astronomy at 100 MHz: HI-z or ZZ Top? - Dr Frank Briggs Colloquium

Frequencies around 100 MHz are becoming increasingly attractive
for studying the period when the first stars form. In principle, the
redshifted 21cm line of neutral hydrogen will enable tomographic analysis
of the neutral component of the Intergalactic Medium through this period.
Since these radio frequencies are heavily used for terrestrial
telecommunications, astronomical experiments to observe this important
epoch in the history of the Universe will need to include a significant
component for identification, excision and cancellation of radio frequency
intererence.
