IAU Commission 31 (Time) Circular 6, 7 January 2003 Dear colleagues, First I wish you a happy and successful year 2003. Here are some informations or events related to our Commission 1)Election of officers for the triennium 2003-2006 For 2003-2006, the present vice-president D.N. Matsakis will be president of C om m i s s i on 31. We should elect the new VP for 2003-2006, who will be president for 2006-2009. Also we are willing to have new members of the Organizing Committee: With the current practice of serving 3 terms in OC, at most four members will remain in 2003-2006: T. Fukushima, S. Leschiutta, Zhai Zao-Cheng and myself as past president. Following the procedure set in 1997, I invite all members of the Commission to nominate one candidate for the new VP as well as one candidate for new OC member. Please send me your proposals BEFORE 15 FEBRUARY 2003. Also it is possible for Commissions to propose that individuals become "IAU Consultants" (deadline is 15 February 2003). Please send me your proposals before January 31, 2003. 2)IAU GA and related deadlines The XXV IAU General Assembly takes place in Sydney, Australia, July 13-26 2003 (see http://www.astronomy2003.com). Please note the following deadlines: *15 February 2003: Submit abstracts for all events of the GA. Submit travel grants. *30 April 2003: Early registration to GA. Of particular relevance to our commission: *JD16: The International Celestial Reference System: Maintenance and future realization: July 22, 2003. *A half-day scientific meeting of Division 1 will take place, probably on J ul y 21, 2003. *S 218: Young neutron stars and their environment: July 14-17, 2003. 3)IAU Transactions The IAU Transactions 25A are now complete. The Commission 31 report is on our web site at http://www.bipm.org/IAU31/activities.html.
