Workshop on "Stacking Techniques in Wide-field Astronomy"

At the ASKAP workshops held last year, it became clear that there is wide interest in the use of stacking techniques (i.e. co-adding the signal from many weak or undetected objects to obtain a statistical detection) both as a means of detecting high-redshift HI with ASKAP and more widely in other areas of optical and radio astronomy. Stacking techniques are potentially very powerful tools for exploiting a new generation of large-area astronomical surveys, and there is much to be gained by sharing our knowledge and experience.
We plan to hold a 1.5 day workshop at ATNF to bring together optical and radio astronomers who are interested in using stacking techniques.
