Seting up an Xraid for a direct connection to PC or laptop
- Connect the PC/laptop network port directly to one of the Xraid network ports by a standard Cat5e cable. A cross-over cable is Not needed.
- Set a static network address on your PC/laptop to

| Netmask | 255.255.0.0 |
| Network | 169.254.0.0 |
| Broadcast | 169.254.255.255 |
* To discover the network address of the Xraid run
=тЗТ> ping -b 169.254.255.255
you should get an return from the Xraid IP
- Raid the Apple RAID Admin Tool and enter this IP address as the destination host
- If you want to do this more than once, set a static IP address on the RAID admin, e.g.

| Network | 192.168.1.0 |
| Broadcast | 192.168.1.255 |
then update the client host in RAID Admin Tool to point to 192.168.1.50
