Launch vehicle with Soyuz TMA-18M spacecraft is on the launch pad

Today, August 31, the launch vehicle Soyuz-FG integrated with the manned transportation spacecraft Soyuz TMA-18M was rolled out of the processing facility and was erected on the launch pad of Area 1 ("Gagarin's launch pad") of the Baikonur cosmodrome.

RSC Energia announces competition for the best name of the spacecraft for missions to the Moon

Rocket and Space Corporation Energia announces creativity competition for the best name of the new-generation crew transportation spacecraft, which is planned to be used for missions to the Moon.

ROSCOSMOS: Alexander Ivanov appointed as the acting head of the organization

On August 20, 2015, RF Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed the RF Government order to appoint the first deputy head of the Federal Space Agency Alexander IVANOV as the acting head of ROSKOSMOS.
Igor KOMAROV who had previously held the position of the head of ROSKOSMOS, by the decree of the RF President issued on August 5, 2015 was appointed Director General of the State Corporation for space activities ROSKOSMOS.

55 years of Belka and Strelka flight

55 years ago, exactly, on August 19, 1960, the launch of spacecraft with dogs Belka and Strelka aboard took place. The flight duration was more than twenty five hours.
On August 20, 1960 the dogs Belka and Strelka were returned from the orbit. Besides the dogs the ejection container held 12 mice, insects, plants, fungus cultures, corn, wheat and pea seeds, flour, some types of germs and other biological objects.

Today, on August 12, special small arms for cosmonauts - gun TP-82 - were donated to the State Historical and Cultural Memorial Estate "the Moscow Kremlin" at RSC Energia.
The ceremony was attended by the President of the Corporation, Vladimir Solntsev, flight cosmonaut, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Alexei Leonov, and director of the museum, daughter of the first cosmonaut Yelena Gagarina, as well as veterans of the space industry and young specialists of the company.

Russian cosmonauts have performed a set of operations on the external surface of the ISS

On Monday, August 10^th, Russian cosmonauts Gennady Padalka and Mikhail Kornienko made a successful egress into space to perform a set of works on the external surface of the International Space Station under the Russian flight program.
All scheduled EVA tasks were performed in full scope. After returning to the station G. Padalka and M. Kornienko feel good.

"Space" gun will be exhibited in memorial estate "the Moscow Kremlin"

On Wednesday, August 12^th a solemn donation of a unique exhibit item - gun TP-82, special small arms of cosmonauts, to the State Historical and Cultural Memorial Estate "the Moscow Kremlin" took place at RSC Energia.
This weapon has been created for self-defense and survival of cosmonauts landed outside the specified area. A famous cosmonaut Alexei Leonov has become the initiator and one of the participants to development of the "space" gun.

Russian cosmonauts will perform the ISS window cleaning experiment

Today, on August 10^th Russian cosmonauts Gennady Padalka and Mikhail Kornienko will egress into space to perform a set of works on the external surface of the International Space Station (ISS) under the Russian flight program.
The planned session of extravehicular activity (EVA-41) will begin at 17:14 Moscow Time and will end at 23:48 Moscow Time. The estimated duration of the cosmonauts operations external to the ISS will be 6 hours 28 minutes.

In addition, the President signed a decree "On the members of the Supervisory Board of the State Corporation for Space Activities Roskosmos". Dmitry O. Rogozin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation was appointed as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the State Corporation for Space Activities.
