55 years ago, exactly, on August 19, 1960, the launch of spacecraft with dogs Belka and Strelka aboard took place. The flight duration was more than twenty five hours.
On August 20, 1960 the dogs Belka and Strelka were returned from the orbit. Besides the dogs the ejection container held 12 mice, insects, plants, fungus cultures, corn, wheat and pea seeds, flour, some types of germs and other biological objects.

On Wednesday, August 12th a solemn donation of a unique exhibit item - gun TP-82, special small arms of cosmonauts, to the State Historical and Cultural Memorial Estate "the Moscow Kremlin" took place at RSC Energia.
This weapon has been created for self-defense and survival of cosmonauts landed outside the specified area. A famous cosmonaut Alexei Leonov has become the initiator and one of the participants to development of the "space" gun.

The planned session of extravehicular activity (EVA-41) will begin at 17:14 Moscow Time and will end at 23:48 Moscow Time. The estimated duration of the cosmonauts operations external to the ISS will be 6 hours 28 minutes.
