New mockups of Soyuz TMA-M descent vehicles have successfully passed final tests

RSC Energia specialists have successfully completed acceptance tests on two Odyssey mockups simulating descent vehicles of crew transportation spacecraft Soyuz TMA-M. The mockups are intended for training specialists from the Russian Ministry of Defense involved in the search and rescue support for the ISS mission.
ROSKOSMOS. ISS Russian Segment Is to Have a Greenhouse Once Again

The Institute for Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IBMP of RAS) is completing work on the development of a new-generation hothouse facility Lada-2 to continue research into higher plants onboard the Russian Segment of the ISS. The scientific equipment is being prepared for tests, after which a decision will be made on whether to include the Plants experiment in the scientific program of the Russian crew's mission. There are plans to deliver the new hothouse to the station as early as late 2016 - early 2017.

101 years since the birthday of Academician B.V. Rauschenbach

On January 18, 1915 outstanding scientist and one of the founders of the Soviet space industry Boris Viktorovich Rauschenbach was born.
The role of Rauschenbach for the development of cosmonautics can not be overemphasized. He was the right hand of Keldysh and Korolev on all issues related to space orientation of spacecraft developed at OKB-1 (now RSC Energia). He like Korolev had to go through the camp and the exile, but he consistently followed the path of scientists and researchers.
Federatsia is the new Russian spacecraft name

Today, on January 15, 2016, the jury chaired by General Director of State Corporation Roscosmos Igor Komarov announced the results of a competition for the best name for the new Russian manned transport spacecraft.
Andrei Smokotin from Kemerovo, the first who suggested name Federatsia was the winner. By the jury decision, name Federatsia was recognized as the best of three 'finalists' of this competition (Gagarin, Federatsia, Vektor) and will be an official name for this new spacecraft. Names Gagarin and Vektor can be used in the future for other projects in rocket-space industry of Russia.

In honor of the outstanding scientist, the founder of the Russian rocket technology and practical cosmonautics the solemn celebrations were held at RSC Energia, which were attended by leaders and veterans of the Corporation, representatives of the Board of Deputies and administration of the Korolev city.

In compliance with the International Space Station (ISS) flight program on January 11, 2016 the planned orbit correction of the ISS was made. The correction purpose was to generate ballistic conditions for the Soyuz TMA-20M manned transport vehicle descent scheduled to be performed in March 2016.
