S.P. Korolev RSC Energia, Korolev, Moscow region
The Central Palace of Culture after M.I. Kalinin hosted gala concert sponsored by Rocket and Space Corporation Energia after S.P. Korolev to mark the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the pioneer human space flight.
Among those invited to the concert were the Corporation managers, veterans and employees, cosmonauts, the representatives of the enterprises and organizations operating in the city of science Korolev, participants of the RAS Presidium field meeting held in RSC Energia during the morning.
Opening the concert, V.A. Lopota, the Corporation President, General Designer, and Y.M. Primakov, the member of the RAS Presidium, welcomed those present, congratulated the employees and veterans of rocket and space industry, cosmonauts and representatives of the enterprises and organizations of the city of science Korolev, all city dwellers on the memorable date.
During the concert the audience was impressed by laser-aided show, videotape recordings of cosmonautics chronicle and congratulations conveyed by the RAS academicians B.Y. Chertok and Yu.P. Semenov, RSC Energia's veterans B.A. Sokolov, V.D. Vachnadze, Yu.D. Silayev, cosmonauts staying onboard the International Space Station, as well as videotape recordings demonstrating the Corporation advanced lines of activity.
Of special note was a warm welcome given to the musical performance with the participation of composer A. Pakhmutova, the People's Artist, the Hero of Socialist Labour, poet and song-writer N. Dobronravov, State Prize winner; People's Artists I. Kobzon, O. MItiaev, T. Gverdtsiteli, R. Ibragimov, who have been giving a great deal of attention to cosmonautics in their creative work.
An enthusiastic welcome was given to the stars of academic and variety art L. Rudakova, the soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia; soloist D. Stepanovich (bass singer); Group "Tenors of the 21st Century"; artists of the National Russian Ballet "Vozrozhdeniye".
The performance of variety groups "Kvatro", "Respublika"; the team "Potok" of children's municipal choral school "Podlipky" after B.A. Tolochkov (Korolev), children's chorus and group "Kinder Mix"; children's dance ensemble "Sozvezdiye"; children's theater "Bravo"; circus big top gymnasts.
People's Artist Y. Khoroshevtsev, Honoured Art Worker, ran the concert. President's orchestra directed by P. Ovsyannikov performed on the stage.
The concert lasted 108 minutes. During just the same time the pioneer human space flight was performed by our compatriot Yuri Alexeyevich Gagarin onboard manned space vehicle-satellite Vostok built in OKB-1 (RSC Energia now).
Before the gala concert started, a big festive column of RSC Energia's veterans and employees headed by the motor car carrying young cosmonauts escorted by motor-cyclists had marched from the enterprise entrance check-point as far as the square of Korolev's Palace of Culture. The marching was accompanied by military brass band and rhythms of the drums beaten by the group of young girls-drummers called "Moskvichka". The marching was enthusiastically welcomed by the city dwellers, school boys and girls, young specialists and employees of the enterprise. Hundreds of balloons painted the colors of Russian national flag were released in the sky by the march participants on the square near the festively decorated Palace of Culture.
