RSC Energia takes part in the 7th International Aerospace Congress
The delegation from S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia takes part in the proceedings of the 7th International Aerospace Congress IAC'12 dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the first artificial satellite of Earth.
The Congress program includes three plenary meetings on August 28-30, two meetings in the round table format, a workshop. Presented at 21 splinter meetings were more than 350 papers. In the course of the Congress proceedings scientists and specialists from Russia, US, Japan, China and European countries will review currently important issues of today's aviation and space.

On the birthday of Fridrikh Arturovich Tsander - a renowned scientist and inventor in the field of the theory of interplanetary flight, rocket engines and spacecraft - the RSC Energia President and General Designer V.A. Lopota sent his congratulation to Tsander's daughter Astra Fridrikhovna Tsander who had dedicated her life to popularizing and preserving her farther's work.

Launch and located in the equatorial area of the Pacific Ocean at 154 W launched an Integrated Launch Vehicle Zenit-3SL carrying
as its payload INTELSAT 21 spacecraft.

Launch date of Intelsat 21 spacecraft from the Sea Launch Complex is postponed by one day
Following the arrival of the specialized Sea Launch vessels to the launch site in the Pacific Ocean, the Rocket and Space Sea Launch complex started launch processing operations in preparation for the ILV Zenit-3SL launch from the Odyssey Launch Platform.
As the launch complex was completing its L-2 day operations on August 15 an issue was identified with the spacecraft customer's ground support equipment. The source of trouble was isolated in one of GSE racks, The faulty rack was replaced with a properly operating unit. Last night the replaced GSE rack was exposed to stand-alone tests, which were successfully completed. The spacecraft specialists are expected to complete the remainder of scheduled L-2 operations.

RSC Energia's housing program implementation is underway; new tenants begin to occupy residential building No. 2 as part of the housing estate being built up
S.P. Korolev Rocket-Space Corporation Energia goes ahead with solving an important social problem to provide modern, comfortable housing for the enterprise employees with their shared participation in its construction.
Since 2010, large-scale housing development of residential area with the required infrastructure satisfying contemporary requirements has been carried out at the picturesque site of Korolev city bordering on the territory of the National Park known as "Elk Island".
At the end of 2011, within the phase I of these construction activities, dwelling-house No. 1 was put into operation.
On the eve of the Builder's Day in Russia, the next residential property, 17-storey building No.2 begins to be occupied by new tenants. The building offers 160 one-room flats, 256 two-room flats and 160 three-room flats. Their total area with due regard for balconies and loggias is 33 725 m2. Happy new tenants, the enterprise employees, will be presented the keys from their modern flats with all conveniences.

RSC Energia - developed invention is among the 100 best national engineering developments in 2011
S.P. Korolev Rocket-Space Corporation Energia was awarded Rospatent's diploma certifying that the invention under RF patent No. 2406873 "Two-stage engine with anodic layer (options)" had been included in the list of the 100 best inventions in Russia for 2011. The inventors are RSC Energia employees, V.G. Ostrovskiy and A.L. Sidelnikov.
Prestigious award was presented for the technical solution on electrorocket engine (ERE) of space application, which made it possible to increase engine service life with its characteristics remaining unchanged during operational use, as well as reduce ERE mass and enhance operating efficiency.

The Cosmonautics News Journal, No. 8, 2012 carries the interview with V.L. Sontsev, the executive director of NPO Power Engineering (Energomash) after V.P. Glushko.
The interview outlines the present state of business and prospects for growth of the leading enterprise in Russia in the field of liquid-propellant rocket engine manufacturing. In the meantime, it is noted that since October 2010, S.P. Korolev Rocket-Space Corporation Energia performs the function of single-member executive body of this enterprise and acts as its management company.

Transport Cargo Vehicle Progress M-16M docked to the ISS
Russian cargo transport vehicle Progress M-16M docked to the International Space Station (ISS).
A contact of the docking port of Module Pirs of the ISS Russian Segment occurred at 05:18 Moscow Time six hours after the vehicle injection into orbit as was envisaged by its nominal flight program.
The cargo transport vehicle rendezvous with the Station, its fly-around and stationkeeping were performed in the automatic mode during the first four flight orbits, the vehicle docking to the orbital station was completed in the 5-th orbit.

Automatic cargo vehicle Progress M-16M in flight
The launch of cargo transport vehicle (CTV) Progress M-16M was performed form the Baikonur cosmodrome at 23:35 Moscow Time.
The launch objective is to provide further in-orbit operation of the International Space Station (ISS) in compliance with the Russian party commitments under this project.
The main objective of the mission is to deliver onboard the Station of more than 2.6 t of different cargo required to continue the ISS flight in the manned mode and provide the crewmembers life and working conditions, and also test a "quick" procedure of CTV rendezvous with the Station during four flight orbits and the vehicle docking with the ISS in the 5-th orbit.

LV Soyuz rollout to the launch pad
At Baikonur launch site the preparations continue for the launch of Progress M-16M cargo vehicle under the International Space Station program.
Soyuz-U launch vehicle was rolled out from the integration building to the launch pad. Soyuz-U launch vehicle with Progress M-16M transport vehicle is installed on the launch pad. L-2 days activities have been started.
