Launch vehicle with Soyuz TMA-20M spacecraft is cleared to be erected on the launch pad

Today, March 15, representatives of the technical management and the state commission at the Baikonur cosmodrome made a decision on the readiness of the space transportation system consisting of the crew transportation spacecraft Soyuz TMA-20M and launch vehicle (LV) Soyuz-FGѓ to be rolled out and erected on the launch pad.

The overall assembly of space transportation system has been successfully completed. During the day, the orbital module with the spacecraft was mated to the third stage of the rocket at the launch vehicle processing facility.

The launch of the Soyuz TMA-20M with the crew of the next expedition to the International Space Station is scheduled for March 19 from Area No.1 ('Gagarin's launch pad') of the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

The main crew of ISS-47/48 includes cosmonauts Alexei Ovchinin (spacecraft commander), Oleg Skripochka (flight engineer, Roscosmos) and astronaut Jeffrey Williams (flight engineer-2, NASA). The backup crew consists of Sergei Ryzhikov (spacecraft commander, Roscosmos), Andrei Borisenko (flight engineer, Roscosmos) and Robert Kimbrough (flight engineer-2, NASA).

Taking part in the activities at the launch site are specialists from RSC Energia and other leading companies in the rocket and space industry involved in the development and processing of the space transportation system Soyuz-FG LV/Soyuz TMA-20M spacecraft, as well as involved in the operation of the ground infrastructure.
