Human Life Research on ISS Russian Segment

MUSCLE-G Experiment

Experiment MUSCLE-G is included in the research program conducted onboard the ISS Russian Segment by spaceflight participant Richard Garriott within the framework of the GTA project. The experiment is to be carried out in the interests of the ESA medical program.

Objective:

Evaluation of atrophy of the muscle belt lying deep in the astronaut's body in response to microgravity conditions.

Task:

Astronaut's evaluation of pain developing in the low back and recording these sensations.

Science Hardware Used:

• MUSCLE logbook,
  with a set of questions for daily recording of a subjective low back pain experienced by the astronaut during a day.

Experiment Results:

Information entered into the questionnaire, which is returned to the ground.
