03/30/2006 Baikonur Cosmodrome.
ISS-13At 06:30 a.m. of Moscow summer time integrated launch vehicle Soyuz-FG with spacecraft Soyuz TMA-8 was launched to International Space Station from cosmodrome Baikonur.
The Increment 13 (ISS-13) crew and visiting crew 10 (VC-10) are on board the Russian transport manned vehicle.
The Soyuz TMA-8 crew consists of: Pavel Vladimirovich Vinogradov, Russian test cosmonaut (ISS-13 commander and Soyuz-TMA commander, S.P. Korolev RSC Energia, Hero of the Russian Federation); Jeffry Nels Williams, American astronaut (spacecraft flight engineer-1, ISS-13 flight engineer, U.S. AF Colonel); and Marcos Cezar Pontes, the first Brazilian astronaut (spacecraft flight engineer-2 spaceflight participant, BSA astronaut, Brazil AF Lieutenant Colonel).
The launch task is planned change of Increment 12 (ISS-12) crew and spacecraft Soyuz TMA-7, operating within the orbital complex as a rescue vehicle from October 3, 2005.

03/29/2006 Baikonur Cosmodrome.
The Prime CrewA meeting of the State Board was held at which the Soyuz TMA-8 and ISS-13 prime and backup crews were approved, as well as a decision was made to continue the Soyuz-FG/Soyuz TMA-8 rocket & space complex processing for filling and launch within the scheduled time – on March 30, 2006, at 6:30 a.m. Moscow time.

The prime crew consists of: Pavel Vladimirovich Vinogradov, ISS commander and Soyuz-TMA commander, flight cosmonaut of RF, test cosmonaut of S.P. Korolev RSC Energia; Jeffry Nels Williams, spacecraft flight-engineer, ISS-13 flight engineer, NASA astronaut, U.S. AF Colonel; Marcos Cezar Pontes, spaceflight participant, BSA astronaut,  Brazil AF Lieutenant Colonel.

The backup crew consists of: Fedor Nikolaevich Yurchikhin, spacecraft commander and ISS-13 flight-engineer, flight cosmonaut of RF, test cosmonaut of S.P. Korolev Rocket&Space Corporation Energia; Edward Michael Fincke, spacecraft flight-engineer, ISS-13 commander, NASA astronaut, U.S. AF Lieutenant Colonel; Sergey Alexandrovich Volkov, ISS VC flight engineer, Soyuz TMA flight engineer-2, test cosmonaut of Yu.A. 03/28/2006 Baikonur Cosmodrome.
Soyuz TMA-8At 5:00 a.m. Moscow Time, the transporter with the Soyuz-FG launch vehicle and the Soyuz TMA-7 transport spacecraft left the Assembly and Testing Facility and arrived to the launch pad for the final pre-launch processing. The Soyuz-FG - Soyuz TMA-8 system was erected on the launcher. First launch day activities began.

03/27/2006 Baikonur Cosmodrome.
Orbital module of the Soyuz-FG launch vehicle, containing Soyuz TMA-8 spacecraft was integrated with the launch vehicle in the LV Assembly and Testing Facility. This day a meeting of the Governmental Commission and the Technical Management was held where a decision was made to roll out the launch vehicle carrying Soyuz TMA-8 to the launch pad.

Soyuz TMA-8The Soyuz TMA-8 prime and backup crews inspected the transport spacecraft in its launch configuration in the Assembly and Testing Facility. Additionally the crews had a consultation on the kits of equipment that are to be delivered to and returned from orbit on-board Soyuz TMA spacecraft.

The prime crew (P.V.Vinogradov,  J. Williams, M. Pontes) and backup crew (F.N. Yurchikhin, M. Fincke, S.A. Volkov) of the Soyuz TMA-8  transport spacecraft accomplished the training during which they performed fit-check of individual cradles, leak and functional checks of spacesuits,  worked with  radio systems and  flight documentation, familiarized  with composition of ascent/descent cargoes, and had a lesson on science experiments.
