Abstract:
The Popigai impact event occurred about 36 Ma ago, and had not produced a global catastrophe and extinction. Several concentric zones of damage in which intensity decreases with the distance from the impact site may be reconstructed and evaluated in rankings ranging from 10 (evaporation, target perturbation) to 1 (mostly dust settling).
Key words:
Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), Near Earth Objects (NEOs), the Popigai impact event, prospective zones of damage, a global catastrophe, extinction, concentric zones of damage, distance from the impact site, evaporation, target perturbation, dust settling.
