Search of objects.
The program has four ways of search of objects.
1) Identifications of known minor planets. The service MPC is used for this
purpose. A query is made through Internet.
Note. The program uses the same settings of connection as Internet
Explorer.
On the "Marking" menu, click "Export of minor planets"or
. The function is accessible, if the file
with the image is open, and Ю identification of a star field is made. The
window will appear:
After an answer will be received, the window of query will be closed, and minor planets will be marked by a green circles and legends. For example, if the legend is " MP - (1146) Biarmia 13.6", then this is the minor planet N1146, with name Biarmia and magnitude 13.6. If the green circle marks an empty place, this minor planet too dark for your telescope at this time of the exposition. See section "Limit of star magnitude".
2) The detection of moving objects by "blinking". For this purpose
it is necessary two or more images of a same area of the sky.
If you have equatorial mounting (there is no rotation of a field):
a) Load a first image by the command "Open", and others by the command "Open +".
b) Make an identification of the field.
c) Open the menu "File", select "Next" or press . The CCD image will be replaced by the next. Again make the identification of the field. If you have loaded more than 2 images, repeat the same operations for other images.
d) Then menu "View", "Number" or . Indication of an identified stars is turn off.
e) Press some times button - . Thus there will be a change of the images in the main window of the program, the stars will remain on the same places, and a moving object will change the position.
If you have azimuth mounting (there is an appreciable rotation of a field), or there is an appreciable change of scale from an image to an image:
a) Load the first image by the command "Open", and others by the command "Open +".
b) Open the menu "File", select "Reduction". Automatically there will be an identification of star fields on all images. After all images will be reduced to first image. In other words stars will have an identical position on all images. The further actions are same as in items d) and e) in case of equatorial mounting.
Attention. The reduced images are bad for precision measurements. Close them and open again.
3) The automatic detection of moving objects. It is necessary tree or more images.
a) Load the first image by the command "Open", and others by the command "Open +".
b) Open the menu "Marking", select "Detect moving objects" or press - . Automatically there will be an identification of star fields on all images. Thus green circles on the frame will mark suspicious places. It is probably both erroneous indications of moving objects and misses of such objects. The number of mistakes depends on number of an images (than more, the better) and on settings of this algorithm.
These settings are "Properties/Detection of moving objects".
The algorithm consists in detection of rectilinearly moving objects.
The positive result is given out for this place of the image, if the following
is carried out.
I) The shift of a local maximum of brightness is more than value of field "Properties/Detection of moving objects/Minimal movement".
II) The level of a maximum of brightness is more than value of field "Min. level of signal" for all images.
III) The deviation from rectilinear movement is less than "Maximal residuals in coor."
