 Section 9: Connection Menu
IMPORTANT NOTICE! Never use a telescope or spotting scope to look at the Sun! Observing the Sun, even for the shortest fraction of a second, will cause irreversible damage to your eye as well as physical damage to the telescope or spotting scope itself.
This menu allows you to connect to and disconnect from the Pictor XT. It has the same function as the X on the toolbar.

Connect / Disconnect

This option connects and disconnects the Pictor XT.

The perform safe thermal shutdown option will cause the camera to go through a slow warmup after disconnecting. This process is only necessary for the208/216XT imagers. This process takes about 10 minutes and is strongly recommended to prevent permanent hot pixels from forming on the CCD chip over time. If you choose not to use this option, the camera will perform a cold boot, then begin cooling at a high rate. You can tell when the camera's safe shutdown is completed when the LED window shows C0.
