"O star formation triggered by cloud-cloud collision (CCC)"

Recent molecular observations indicate supersonic cloud-cloud collision is one of the important modes of O star formation. The O star formation regions studied so far include super star clusters (Westerlund2, NGC3603, RCW38 etc.), mini-starbursts (NGC6334, NGC6357 etc.), HII regions (M42/43, M20 etc.), and Spitzer bubbles (RCW120 etc.). In this talk I will present some of the recent discoveries of CCC and discuss physics of the collision-induced turbulent layer. Since the collision time scale is short ~10^5 yrs, O star formation is a rapid process with a mass accretion rate higher than 10^-4Mo/yr.
