The Sunyaev-Zel'dovich eect and cosmological parameters

Improved microwave data, from interferometers and single dishes,
and new X-ray data from Chandra and XMM-Newton, are allow-
ing a more detailed examination of the SZ/X-ray technique for the
measurement of distance, and hence the Hubble diagram. This
talk will review progress and discuss results so far, emphasizing
the potential of blind, and X-ray related, surveys for the SZ eect
as tests for cosmological parameters and cluster evolution.
