The MAXIMA team has recently released measurements of the
cosmic microwave background temperature anisotropy from the
rst ight (MAXIMA-1). These results include a 10 square degree
map of  122 square degrees of the surface of last scattering with
10 arcmin resolution, a power spectrum over the range 36 < l <
785, and a bayesian analysis of the constraints on cosmological
parameters obtained from this power spectrum. The parameter
values obtained are consistent with a at universe, a primordial
power spectrum with no tilt and a relatively high baryon fraction.
The MAXIMA program will be described and the cosmological
conclusions presented.
