Radar Observations to Reassess Near-Earth Asteroid 6063 Jason

Near-Earth asteroid 6063 Jason (1984 KB) was observed at the time of discovery in 1984 by Bell et al. (1988). The size and albedo they report are inconsistent with the current H magnitude. Radar observations will help characterize this asteroid and determine a consistent size and albedo. This ob ject is available at Arecibo from Oct 20-27, 2013. It is lower signal-to-noise ratio than other radar NEA targets, but it is of special interest. Outreach Abstract: Near-Earth asteroid 6063 Jason can be observed in October, 2013 to determine the size and shape. Asteroids are left over materials from forming planets, and learning about their formation and evolution helps us better understand the Earth and its neighborhood.
