Proposal Title: Arecibo Radar Observations of 21 NearEarth Asteroids During FebruaryAugust
2012
ABSTRACT:
We request 75 sessions (163 hours observing + 75 hours setup = 238 hours total) to observe 21 NearEarth
Asteroids, 8 of which are likely larger than a kilometer, 7 of which o#er opportunities for shape modeling at high
signaltonoise ratio (>1000/day), a few of which may be binaries, and several of which may reveal
nongravitational perturbations such as the Yarkovsky e#ect. Not much is known about the majority of the objects
in this sample. Our goals include detailed physical characterization, determination of binarity or multiplicity,
orbital refinement, and shape modeling when possible.
