A Survey for Excited-OH Molecules at 4.7 GHz

These observations would have formed Pro ject AO-4 at the 2013 NAIC/NRAO Single-Dish Summer School had not a telescope drive problem intervened. The students who would have run that pro ject were very disappointed by this, and would still like to have the experience, and are the P.I.s on this short proposal. The pro ject involves a small survey of the three excited-OH (and other) spectral lines near 4.7 GHz. The survey will search for these lines in a number of Galactic targets associated with, (a) star-formation regions, (b) far-IR sources, (c) a proto-planetary nebula, (d) OH/IR stars and, (e) regions in two supernova remnants where strong 1720-MHz OH maser emission occurs.
