Radar imaging of Five Near-Earth Asteroids

We propose to obtain imaging of five near-Earth asteroids from February to April, 2008. This interval provides an unusually large number of high-SNR asteroid targets. We propose to obtain radar images of these ob jects with sufficient resolution and aspect coverage to generate detailed shape models. For four of the ob jects, we will use the resulting shape models to model thermal emission, which will be measured for these ob jects using the mid-IR spectrometer at the IRTF on Mauna Kea.
