Proposal Title: New single pulse observations of PSR 0611+22
ABSTRACT:
We request one transit of PSR 0611+22 to study single pulses of this object in order to collect data on mode
switching that this pulsar clearly exhibits. Mode switching in this pulsar is very unusual - in both modes there is
only one, almost exactly Gaussian component in the average prole. The two proles, however, have dierent
brightness and dierent positions and widths. To our knowledge this is the only pulsar known so far with a single
prole and mode switching. We expect to nd arguments, based on analysis of component shapes and polarization,
if mode switching involves changes in the emission height, which previous analysis of total power data seems to
indicate.
