Proposal Title: Coordinated Radio and Xray Observations of the Flaring and Quiescent Corona
of the Active Binary Sigma Gem
ABSTRACT:
We propose to observe the active RS CVn binary star Sigma Gem using the Lband wide receiver and the WAPP
on two consecutive nights with the aim of recording high time resolution dynamic spectra of the coherent burst
emission, better constraining the coherent emission meachanism, and relating the behavior of the coherent emission
to the broader coronal variations and flaring. Simultaneous observations will be obtained with the Chandra Xray
Observatory and from the VLA, VLBA, MERLIN, and McDonald Observatory.
